Rheinmetall chief finds €100bn to modernise German Armed Forces insufficient for NATO purposes

The previously allocated €100bn to modernise the German armed forces will not be enough to meet NATO requirements.

This statement was made by the head of the Rheinmetall concern Armin Papperger, writes RIA Novosti.

In his opinion, the Bundeswehr needs to invest €350bn more in the next 10-15 years.

“A second special fund will be needed,” Papperger noted.

He emphasised that if this does not happen, Germany will not be able to meet the terms of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Earlier, Papperger said that the countries of Europe would find it difficult to defend themselves in case of an offensive by a strong adversary at the current modernisation costs.
