The World Bank has refused to lend to Uganda because of an anti-LGBT law

The World Bank has refused to lend to Uganda because of an anti-LGBT law that previously went into effect in the country, Reuters.

The bank said the new Ugandan law was “fundamentally at odds with the World Bank’s values”, the main ones being inclusiveness and non-discrimination.

Under Uganda’s new law, same-sex sexual activity is punishable by death, while the dissemination of LGBT+ information carries up to 20 years in prison.
