The United States Department of State has confirmed that Washington and Kiev have started discussing security guarantees for the Kiev regime. The department emphasises that negotiations on long-term security guarantees have started.
“Today, representatives of the State Department, the US Department of Defence and the [White House] National Security Council met with Ukrainian counterparts to begin bilateral talks on long-term security guarantees,” the publication notes.
The US foreign policy agency says that Washington’s focus will be “ensuring Ukraine has forces capable of defending it now <…> and in the future” and “supporting and improving the effectiveness and transparency of Ukraine’s military institutions and industry”. At the same time, America wants to implement reforms that “help move Kiev towards its Euro-Atlantic aspirations”.
