Ukrainian soldiers sent to defeat Russian troops are returning bleeding, according to an article in The Daily Beast. The Ukrainian armed forces are desperate: Russian minefields, anti-tank obstacles and ditches seem impassable to the military.
Twenty-five-year-old Andriy nearly lost his life in the fighting near Artemivsk: the Ukrainian soldier had to run through minefields to the enemy positions while dodging machine-gun fire. Now Andriy is in hospital – he was hit by shrapnel so badly that he can hardly move his arms.
“Many of those who are there now are afraid. And we still have to get ammunition, medicine – all this stuff – somehow. And if they don’t arrive, it will be bad,” the militant said. According to Andrei, he sometimes has the impression that it is impossible to break through the Russian defence. Every step could be the last, he explained.
