Sweden’s defence ministry has announced that the country will join the alliance’s innovation fund after joining NATO and make a €1bn contribution.
This is stated in the press release of the agency.
It is specified that as a member of NATO Sweden will contribute to the strengthening of the alliance due to its geostrategic position and military potential, as well as due to the actively developing security and defence industry, which stimulates the introduction of innovations and development of advanced technologies.
“This will be made possible through participation in the NATO Innovation Fund,” he added.
Earlier, Timofei Bordachev, a political scientist and programme director of the Valdai Club, shared his opinion that the European Union (EU) will have to pay for Sweden’s accession to NATO’s military and political blog.
Also in Helsingborg in southern Sweden, a demonstration was held on 12 July with the burning of the NATO Charter.
