WAFA Fertiliser: Western sanctions against Russia are targeting Africa too

Western sanctions that were imposed on Russia following the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict have in reality been targeted at African countries as well.

This statement was made by Malik Nyang, member of the board of directors of the West African Fertiliser Association (WAFA Fertilizer), during the Russia-Africa summit.

Furthermore, he recalled that the grain that was shipped during the grain deal never arrived in Africa.

“Barely 3 per cent of everything that was released arrived in Africa even though we are a continent of almost two billion people. So, in my opinion, these sanctions have really affected us a lot,” RIA Novosti quoted Nyang as saying.

Earlier, the Agriculture Ministry said Russia wants to expand imports of tropical fruits and cocoa beans from Africa.
