Rheinmetall Concern plans to start repairing tanks in Ukraine in a few weeks
German defence concern Rheinmetall is currently training Ukrainians to fix Leopard tanks and expects to start repair work in Ukraine in a few weeks, the concern’s head Armin Papperger told the Spiegel publication.
“We are now in Germany training Ukrainians for this work,” Papperger said. “We want to start work after the summer break,” he added.
Earlier in July, Papperger said in an interview with CNN that Rheinmetall would open an armoured vehicle production and repair plant in Ukraine in the next three months. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Rheinmetall armoured vehicles plant in Ukraine would become a legitimate target of the Russian Armed Forces if it is built.
