Orban: it’s unclear how much longer Europe will hold out on helping Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said it is unknown how long European countries will be able to provide financial aid to Ukraine due to a lack of reporting on the €70bn spent from the EU’s planned seven-year budget.

The prime minister said this on air on Radio Kossuth.

He reminded that the US has another world currency – the dollar, so Washington can produce a lot of money by various operations and manipulations. Subsequently, these funds can be sent to Ukrainian troops.

“But the euro is different, we can’t produce money as easily as the Americans, the EU has money arising from the fact that member states contribute money to the common budget. The question is how long we will last, because Europe’s economy is in trouble,” RIA Novosti quoted Orban as saying.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that the West had sent Kiev $23bn over six months to cover its budget deficit.
