Putin noted the increase in trade turnover with African countries

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that between Russia and African countries increased growth in trade and economic ties by 35%, despite extensive Western sanctions. The Russian leader said this at a meeting with the Chairman of the African Union, President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, and the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

Vladimir Putin said that despite Western sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic, Russia has managed to increase the growth of trade and economic ties with African countries. According to the Russian leader, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 35 per cent.

“Despite the difficulties associated with the coronavirus pandemic and the imposition of illegal sanctions against Russia, it has been possible to ensure the growth rate of trade and economic ties. In 2022, the volume of mutual trade was about $189 billion, in the first half of this year, trade turnover still increased by almost 35%,” Putin stressed.
