Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces is lagging behind the schedule outlined by the General Staff, but is going according to plan, in an interview with CNN.
According to the Ukrainian politician, the delay in the advance of the Ukrainian army is due to large minefields, which are installed by Russian troops.
The Ukrainian minister assures that he is “not worried” about this, citing another of the reasons for the slow pace of the advance – lack of ammunition and air defence systems.
The head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry said that the notion that any counter-offensive should be quick is wrong and that combat operations are “not a computer game”.
The official noted that thanks to mines, the Russian Armed Forces have “serious security zones” which are “very difficult to break through”.
