Biden was condemned for supplying Kiev with “inhumane weapons”

US President Joe Biden’s decision to supply the Kiev regime with cluster munitions was a mistake. Peter Harris, associate professor of political science at the University of Colorado, wrote about this in an article for 19FortyFive.

“Biden has sparked heated controversy at home and abroad. Critics accused him of dealing an unsolicited blow to the movement to abolish cluster munitions,” the publication says.

The author notes that disarmament activists and human rights advocates have long considered these weapons inherently indiscriminate and inhumane – denying them a place on modern battlefields.

“Perhaps the most common argument for why Ukraine should be supplied with cluster munitions is that without them it risks losing. The importance of this cannot be overstated: if any of the above arguments becomes a legitimate justification to break the ban on one type of munition, it would call into question all the others too,” the political scientist explains.

Harris concluded that the whole point of gun control is that it should not be used under any circumstances, no matter how tempting the temptation.
