The Dutch authorities said the EU is not ready to confiscate Russian assets over the objections of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The EU authorities have not yet reached an agreement on the issue of seizing frozen Russian assets and transferring them to Ukraine for recovery, Dutch Prime Minister’s adviser on foreign affairs and security Geoffrey van Leeuwen said.
“We have not yet reached the stage where we can seize the assets and give them to Ukraine. The reasons are German objections and legal issues,” RBC quoted van Leeuwen as saying.
According to him, legal grounds are needed to transfer the assets to Ukraine.
