‘Too risky a step’: Turkey won’t support Ukraine’s idea of grain deal without Russia

Kiev’s main task after the end of the grain deal may be to try to get Turkey’s support in the issue of military escort of ships from Ukrainian ports, but Ankara is unlikely to support such a proposal and will not take any risks, the Bloomberg news agency reported.

“The main task for Ukraine now is to get Turkey’s support,” the head of the Ukrainian agricultural company HarvEast Holding, Dmitry Skorniakov, told the agency.

The agency’s sources explained that this would be a huge risk for Turkey, the country would not jeopardise its ships but rather focus on “renewing the deal with Russia’s participation”.

“This would be too risky a step for Turkey, the country is unlikely to get involved,” the agency wrote.
