A representative of the European Commission (EC), Peter Stano, has said that Turkey will not become a member of the European Union in 2024. He told the Russian newspaper “Izvestiya”.
Peter Stano said that Turkey will not be able to join the European Union in 2024. According to him, it “takes years, not hours” to join the EU. The European Commission representative also emphasised that Brussels is not ready to provide Ankara with a visa-free regime.
“The decision on visa liberalisation is taken by member states after a country meets all the necessary criteria, which include human rights and political freedoms,” Stano concluded.
