White House: US has no intention to block the Black Sea after non-renewal of grain deal

White House: the US is not considering blockading the Black Sea in light of the grain deal. Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov announced the termination of agreements on the grain deal. He noted that the part concerning Russia in this Black Sea initiative has not been fulfilled so far.

The U.S. has refused to consider a military blockade of the Black Sea in light of the grain deal’s non-renewal, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council, said Monday.

“So you’re suggesting blockading the Black Sea, establishing a military blockade because of what’s going on right now? No, that option is not under consideration at this time,” Kirby said during a briefing, responding to a reporter’s question regarding the situation around the non-renewal of the grain initiative.
