US to announce new pledges of military aid to Ukraine, media reported

Reuters: US to announce $1.3bn military aid commitments to Ukraine

The US will announce in the coming days a $1.3 billion military aid commitment for Ukraine, Reuters reports, citing US sources.

The aid to Kiev will include the purchase of air defence systems, VAMPIRE drone countermeasures systems, AVEVEX kamikaze drones and Switchblade drones, as well as ammunition.

“The U.S. will announce $1.3 billion in military aid commitments to Kiev in its conflict with Russia in the coming days,” the agency said in a statement.

Russia earlier sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargoes that contain arms for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that NATO countries were “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the West’s pumping weapons into Ukraine was not conducive to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and would have a negative effect. Lavrov said that the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, “including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel…. on the territory of the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries.”
