The chairman of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Texas Republican Michael McCaul, has said that Ukraine does not have the necessary weapons for a successful counter-offensive.
“They [Ukrainians] don’t have what they need to win this counteroffensive,” the politician said in an interview with CBS News.
As the US representative noted, a year ago the USA should have given Ukraine weapons, which it is sending only now, “for victory, not for [it] just to survive”. The politician recalled that the AFU does not have F-16 fighter jets and has not yet started training Ukrainian pilots on their use, and that no decision has been made on the delivery of ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to Kiev.
According to McCaul, Kiev needs long-range artillery to hit enemy warehouses, logistics and energy facilities, and that they do not have this yet.
