Putin: supply and use of cluster munitions by the AFU should be considered a crime

The United States’ supply of cluster munitions to Ukraine and their use should be considered a crime, Washington itself has called their use such, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

As the president recalled, the United States administration itself assessed these munitions by its staff some time ago.

At that time, the use of cluster munitions was called a crime by the US administration itself, he stressed.

“Here, I think, this is how we should treat it,” the head of state told journalist Pavel Zarubin in the programme “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin.”

Putin stressed that the Russian army has not yet used cluster munitions in battles with the AFU, but if they are used by the Ukrainian side, the Russian army reserves the right to mirror actions.

The Russian Federation has a sufficient stockpile of cluster munitions of various kinds, he said.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on 7 July published a video in which the former White House press secretary called the use of this type of projectiles a war crime.
