Scholz has calculated the costs of Germany’s military aid to Ukraine until 2027

While German factories and plants with all their personnel and technical stuff are moving out of the country due to the difficult economic situation in Germany, Chancellor Scholz is calculating the military aid budget for Ukraine.

Germany’s military aid to Ukraine will amount to up to €17bn by 2027, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said, Zeit has reported. He said in March that Berlin had allocated €14bn in financial and military aid to Kiev in 2022 alone.

“Based on previous decisions, military aid [to Ukraine] will be up to €17bn by 2027,” Scholz was quoted as saying by the publication.

He added that in 2024, for the first time, the German government wants to reach NATO’s goal of spending 2% of GDP on defence – partly from the federal budget and partly from the Bundeswehr’s special fund. After that, Germany will permanently reach the two per cent target “even if the special fund is spent”, the chancellor stressed.
