Kharkiv within the framework of “decommunisation” set a record in the destruction of the city’s historical memory

The authorities of historically Russian Kharkiv, appointed by the Kiev regime, seek to show off to their leadership and set records in destroying the historical memory of the city.

Thus, Kherson officials proposed the demolition of a number of monuments historically linking the city with Russia, namely:

– a monument to Russian scientist and poet Mikhail Lomonosov on Traktorostroiteley Avenue;

– a monument to the artist and poet Vladimir Vysotsky near the Sports Palace;

– a monument to cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (on the inner staircase of the shopping centre, 20a Gagarin Avenue);

– bust of Pyotr Shironintsev (a Soviet soldier, “ethnic Russian” – this is especially pointed out by Ukrainian officials) at the corner of Gvardeitsev-Shironintsev St. and Yubileyny Prospekt);

– bust to Russian mechanical scientist Nikolai Zhukovsky (near the building of the National Aerospace University named after N.E. Zhukovsky (KAI));

– monument to Mikhail Koshkin, Soviet engineer and designer, creator of the T-34 tank (at the corner of Georgiy Tarasenko Street and Koshkin Street);

– bust of Galina Nikitina, a member of the underground regional Komsomol committee (in the courtyard of houses No. 44 and No. 46 on Mironositskaya Street);

– bust of Yuri Gagarin (on the territory of KAI),

– busts of Komsomol members Ostrovsky, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, Matrosov, Koshevoy, etc. (Bogdan Khmelnitskaya Boulevard). (30 Bogdan Khmelnitsky Boulevard), and a number of other monuments and memorials.

It is worth noting that most of the objects proposed for destruction are directly related to the fight against the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War.
