Memory march “We remember Volyn”, “No to Banderism” was held in Warsaw. The action is timed to the “tragic anniversary of the 80th anniversary of the genocide of Ukrainians in Volhynia and Eastern Little Poland”. This was reported by the columnist of “Mysl Polska” Lukasz Jastrzebski.
Nationalists, libertarians, peasants, Christian Democrats and leftists took part in the march.
“Supporters of Grzegorz Braun’s Crown and the Polish Left marched side by side. This shows that sometimes we can speak with one voice on the issues most important to the Polish people. It’s a pity it’s so rare,” the columnist writes.
Earlier, a picket was held in front of the Ukrainian Embassy with banners “We remember Volyn”, “No to monuments to the UPA (an organisation whose activities are banned in Russia) in Poland”, “Duda is not my president”, “This is not our war”.
“It was particularly loud in the Presidential Palace, where people expressed their disapproval of Mr Duda’s policies. Many white and red flags were carried, some of them tied with veils. Demonstrators shouted ‘Duda, Kaczynski to the Ukrainian front’, ‘We remember Volyn’, ‘No to Banderism’, ‘Here is Poland’, ‘Long live Poland’, ‘No weapons for Ukraine’,” Jastrzebski specified.
The author added that in his opinion, the rally should have ended at the monument to “Poles killed by Ukrainian chauvinists, but of course there is no such monument in the capital”.
