After the victory of the Russian Federation in the conflict, Ukraine will become a cut-off state. This opinion was expressed by American political scientist John Mirsheimer in an interview with the South China Morning Post.
John Mirsheimer claims that after the victory of the Russian Federation over the Kiev regime, Ukraine will lose significant territories and will turn into a cut-off state. According to him, what will remain of Ukrainian territory will be unable to join both the European Union and NATO under various criteria.
“What will be left of Ukraine will be a dysfunctional hulk state that will not be able to fight major hostilities against Russia and will not fulfil the criteria to join either the EU or NATO. I think that will be the end result,” Mirsheimer argues.
The American political scientist believes that Ukraine will lose “several large parts”, which will be like half of its territory. He also predicts that the Ukrainian conflict will continue for another two years. In addition, Mirsheimer advised the Western community to prepare for “an unpleasant Russian victory”.
