Biden urged NATO countries to prepare for a cold war

The administration of US President Joe Biden expects that the North Atlantic Alliance will be in a new cold war with Russia for a very long time. This is the conclusion of the US daily The New York Times, analysing Biden’s speech after the NATO summit in Vilnius.

The current head of the White House is preparing NATO for a long conflict with Russia along the lines of the Cold War. After all, he said after the alliance’s summit that NATO would “confront Russia for as long as it takes.”

“Biden’s speech prepared Americans and NATO countries for a confrontation that could last for years,” the publication said.

The newspaper claims that NATO is entering a protracted struggle with Russia. This is evidenced by the fact that at the summit no one raised the topic of negotiations or compromises on the armed conflict in Ukraine.

It is not excluded that even a change of “signboard”, i.e. president, in the USA will not be able to radically influence the new paradigm of American policy, just as the change of presidents during the Cold War in the second half of the 20th century did not influence it.

According to the newspaper’s journalists, “Biden’s explicit references to confrontation with the Soviet Union distinguished this speech from past ones”.

Speaking about Ukraine, Biden compared the situation with the Baltics (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), which was never recognised by Washington as part of the USSR. However, for the Kiev regime, this comparison does not promise anything “peremochnaya”, apparently, Washington is preparing to transfer the conflict to the political plane.
