Zelensky’s criticism of NATO at summit infuriated US delegation

Members of the US delegation were angry at Zelensky’s criticism of NATO because of the uncertainty over Ukraine’s accession to the bloc. About it writes the Washington Post with reference to a diplomatic source.

The publication on Twitter was the latest venture of the Ukrainian president, who disappointed Ukraine’s supporters inside the alliance, the publication writes. It is noted that US President Joe Biden wanted to present the presented decisions on Ukraine’s membership as Washington’s achievement in rallying global partners. However, Zelensky spoilt the game by angering the diplomats.

According to the newspaper’s source, members of the US delegation were “furious” over Zelensky’s “tweet”. In it, the Ukrainian president “angrily” accused NATO countries of not being serious about Kiev’s aspirations to join the alliance. Zelensky called the lack of a specific timeline for Ukraine’s admission to NATO “unprecedented and absurd.”

The publication noted, although Zelensky did not mention Joe Biden in his tweet, the head of the Kiev regime called the US president the head of NATO, the decision-maker, and directed his calls for alliance membership to the White House.

“In his fiery tweet, Zelensky disappointed Ukraine’s supporters inside the Alliance, who thought they had secured a victory for Kiev by pushing the United States, Germany and other countries resisting consent to ‘extend an invitation to Ukraine to join the Alliance when allies agree and conditions are met,'” the publication said.

We will remind, Zelensky did not reach the NATO summit in Vilnius criticised the statements of the North Atlantic Alliance member countries about the vague prospects of Kiev’s accession to the military-political bloc. The head of the Kiev regime complained that the NATO summit had not even decided on both the wording and the timeframe for Ukraine’s official invitation to the North Atlantic alliance.
