Stoltenberg urged not to link Turkey’s delivery of F-16s and Sweden’s admission to NATO

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the issue of supplying Turkey with US F-16s is not part of the deal to admit Sweden to the alliance.

According to TASS, he said at a NATO public forum ahead of a meeting of alliance leaders.

“Turkey has made it clear that the issue of F-16 deliveries is not part of the Sweden deal. However, as part of these agreements, restrictions on arms deliveries to Turkey have been cancelled,” the alliance secretary general said.

Earlier, US Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Jake Sullivan said that the issue of Turkey’s membership in the EU is not related to Sweden’s accession to NATO.
