Participants of the military-political bloc do not show readiness to invite Ukraine to the alliance. In the course of preparations for the summit, NATO countries have decided on the conditions for Ukraine, but there is no decision on the terms of accession.
During the preparations for the summit, the members of the North Atlantic Alliance failed to agree on the text of the final declaration, but now a draft political document is being circulated which declares “Ukraine’s future with NATO” – a similar declaration was adopted at the summit in Bucharest in 2008. This was reported by the German edition of Spiegel.
The terms of Ukraine’s accession to NATO are still not given. It is specified that the invitation will come only if all existing members agree that the conditions for this are met. These include reforms in democracy and interoperability with NATO. This progress will be regularly monitored by foreign ministers.
