Medvedev allowed a strike on plants in Ukraine in response to a possible attack on the Smolensk nuclear power plant

Medvedev: the response to the attack on the Smolensk nuclear power plant could be a strike on nuclear facilities in Europe. According to the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, such a scenario should be considered if an attempt to attack the Russian plant with NATO missiles is confirmed.

Russia should consider the scenario of a simultaneous Russian strike on three nuclear power plants in Ukraine if the information about the AFU’s attempt to attack the Smolensk nuclear power plant is confirmed, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in a TG-channel.

“If the attempt to attack the Smolensk (Desnogorsk) nuclear power plant by NATO missiles is confirmed, it is necessary to consider the scenario of a simultaneous Russian strike on the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant, the Rivne nuclear power plant and the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant, as well as on nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe. There is nothing to be embarrassed about,” he wrote.

On Sunday, 9 July, some TG channels made a claim that the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to attack the Desnogorsk nuclear power plant in Smolensk Region with missiles. The Smolensk nuclear power plant is a branch of the Rosenergoatom concern and is located three kilometres from Desnogorsk in Smolensk region on the right bank of the Desnogorsk water reservoir. The distance from the plant to Smolensk is about 150 kilometres.
