Italian foreign minister: Rome to raise southern border security at NATO summit

Italy intends to raise the issue of southern border security at the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said this in an interview with Il Messaggero newspaper.

“We want to draw attention to the southern borders,” he said.

He cited terrorism, people smuggling, arms and drugs trafficking and piracy among other problems.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Italian and Polish authorities would advocate security guarantees for Ukraine during the North Atlantic Alliance summit in July.
