WSJ: Bulgaria to sell Ukraine $650m worth of equipment for unfinished Belene NPP

The Bulgarian authorities are considering selling to Ukraine the equipment of the unfinished Belene nuclear power plant for about $650m.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal newspaper citing sources.

“The Sofia-based state energy company NEK will sell equipment from the unfinished Belene nuclear power plant to Ukraine’s Energoatom nuclear company,” the publication said.

The cost of the equipment is estimated at $650m, the newspaper said.

On 26 June, Bulgaria approved a new military aid package for Ukraine.

The aid does not include heavy equipment and aviation.
