The Moldovan authorities are not going to give up Transnistria for the membership in the European Union (EU). Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Serebryan, said this on air of TV-8.
“Our position is to introduce negotiations in parallel with the EU integration. The reintegration process will not depend 100% on European integration, this is clear. But it will help unite the banks of the Dniester,” Serebryan said.
According to the deputy prime minister, the Transnistrian settlement process will depend not only on the EU integration, but also on the economic situation in Moldova, as well as on the development of the conflict in Ukraine.
“If we have more attraction for the residents of Transnistria, this will create a favourable climate for rapprochement,” Serebryan said.
