The CIA, not the U.S. military, oversees secret aid to Ukraine, Newsweek reports.
Ukraine’s secret aid is overseen by the CIA, not the US military, Newsweek reports.
“Much of what Washington does to help Ukraine is kept secret, and much of what would normally fall under the purview of the US military is carried out by the CIA,” the report says.
This also explains the recent secret visit of the head of the agency, William Burns, to Kiev. According to the publication, he visited Ukraine on several occasions after the start of the SMO. The weekly’s sources also stress that the US intelligence agency, which is actively involved in the conflict, does not want it to get out of control.
