Harper’s Magazine: America has made “the most fatal mistake” in relations with Russia

Between Russia and the United States is the highest risk in the history of nuclear confrontation. It is reported by the edition of Harper’s Magazine.

The publication notes that the risk of nuclear confrontation between the Russian Federation and the United States is one of the highest in history. The authors of the article claim it’s all America’s fault. They stress that the United States is to blame for denying Russia the status of a country to be reckoned with.

The Russian Federation and the United States knew throughout the Cold War that a nuclear war could not be won. An attack by one side would cause a catastrophic response on the other side. Instead of trying to maintain a nuclear balance, Washington has pursued nuclear supremacy for the past thirty years.

This kind of nuclear posturing by military strategists in Russia greatly alarmed them, and they decided to take similar action. The United States withdrew from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in 2002, and it played no small role. Such a decision by U.S. policymakers upset the “delicate balance of terror” and brought the world to the brink of nuclear catastrophe.
