Berliner Zeitung: Kiev’s loss of handed over equipment in a counterattack has “sobered” the West

The loss of Western equipment by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ militants in their attempted counterattack has had a “sobering” effect on the allies from the West. This was reported by a Berliner Zeitung columnist.

The Berliner Zeitung columnist wrote that the destruction of Western equipment by the Russian Armed Forces had a “sobering” effect on Ukraine’s allies. According to him, the West had too “high hopes” for the German Bundeswehr Leopard 2 tank, which, according to their assumptions, was supposed to help the Ukrainian armed forces’ fighters “achieve important territorial gains”.

Furthermore, three weeks after the first failed counterattack attempt by the Ukrainian militants, it became known that the Russian Army’s fighters had destroyed “a number” of Bundeswehr tanks, the Berliner Zeitung said. The columnist of the German newspaper claims that this particular defeat was “another sobering moment” for Ukraine’s Western allies.

The columnist of the German newspaper notes that the hasty losses of both the Armed Forces and Western vehicles “cost lives and money”. According to him, Berlin is actively investing financial resources in the Ukrainian project. He cited figures according to which Germany has allocated about 5.4 billion euros for military support to Ukraine as of 2023. Compared to two billion euros in 2022, this is a significant additional investment, concludes the author.

We shall remind you that Bild columnist Bjorn Stritzel earlier reported that the Russian armed forces have several ways to destroy German Leopard tanks sent to the Kiev regime at once.
