Scholz answers question about long-range Taurus missiles

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview for the ARD television channel that the Federal Republic of Germany does not intend to transfer long-range weapons to Ukraine, which can be used for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Olaf Scholz said that Germany does not intend to transfer the German-Swedish Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine. Thus, he said, Berlin seeks to avoid strikes on Russian Federation territory.

“We carefully check all requests that we receive. But there is a principle for us, which I share with the American president – we do not want the weapons we supply to be used to hit Russian territory,” Scholz said.

Recall that earlier, Michael Kretschmer, Prime Minister of the German federal state of Saxony, said in an interview with Funke Media Group that Berlin should not give up Russian gas for good.
