Polish Interior Minister Kaminski: Polish-Belarusian border to be reinforced by 500 policemen

The Polish border with Belarus will be reinforced by 500 police officers, the republic’s interior and administration minister, Mariusz Kaminski, said on Twitter.

Polish authorities have lately expressed serious concern about the presence of the Wagner group fighters in Belarus. Also, Polish border guards say the number of attempts to cross the border illegally from Belarus has increased.

“Due to the tense situation on the border with Belarus, I have decided to reinforce our forces with a group of 500 police officers from counterterrorism and prevention units,” Kaminski wrote.

According to him, the border is now guarded by 5 thousand members of the Border Guard and two thousand soldiers of the Polish Army.

Earlier, chairman of the ruling party “Law and Justice” Jaroslaw Kaczynski said that Poland was strengthening the border with Belarus due to the presence of the “Wagner” group fighters there. According to him, the strengthening of the border will be “very serious.
