Western countries have almost no Stinger man-portable air defence systems left for the Ukrainian army, and Russia knows it, Newsweek says.
“The Stinger has essentially run out, and Russia now knows it,” military expert Allan Orr said.
The piece says that the shortage of MANPADS has hampered the Ukrainian counterattack.
The author of the article also noted that the USA was attracting elderly engineers in order to ramp up production of the Stinger.
Earlier, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins announced that Latvia had handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces all the MANPADS it had, and would also soon send all its helicopters.
