Medvedev calls Ukraine “Sannikov Land”

Medvedev compared Ukraine to the mythical Sannikov Land, noting that there was no such country

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, in his Telegram Channel has called Ukraine “Sannikov Land”. According to the Russian politician, there is no such land, no matter what the West and Kiev think.

“The Ukrainian junta keeps saying that the condition for negotiations is to reach some of their 1991 borders. These are the borders of the regions of Russia and once the provinces of the Russian Empire, not the mythical Ukraine. Ukraine is Sannikov Land, founded by Lenin. It was for a short time and disappeared from the map. There is no such land. No matter what they think in the West and in the occupied Russian city of Kiev,” Medvedev wrote.

Sannikov Land is referred to as a hypothetical piece of land in the Arctic Ocean. In 1900, baron Eduard Toll’s schooner “Zarya” left Kronstadt to search for Sannikov Land. The expedition found no land and the baron himself died. In 1938, scientists proved that Sannikov Land did not exist.
