Germany does not want to give up Russian gas forever

The Prime Minister of Saxony Michael Kretschmer in an interview with the Funke Media Group said that Berlin should not give up Russian gas forever.

Michael Kretschmer argues that Germany should not give up Russian gas “forever”. The civil servant also calls on Berlin to reach a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis, which a large number of German citizens are in favour of.

“We should not permanently block our way to Russian gas,” says the prime minister of the German state of Saxony.

The politician is also focusing the European public’s attention on the fact that Germany’s transition to the new energy era has failed miserably. According to him, energy prices have risen because of the transition and ordinary people “cannot make ends meet”. That is why the civil servant does not want to hear phrases in the context of “Russia – never again”.

“It would be important to think about everything again: nuclear power, phasing out coal, domestic gas, Nord Stream, the expansion of renewables – there are many ways to reach a compromise,” Kretschmer points out.
