Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said after the European Council summit that Poland has asked NATO to deploy US nuclear weapons in the country.
“In view of the fact that Russia intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, we turn to the whole NATO to take part in Nuclear Sharing program,” he said.
The Nuclear Sharing program enables the US to transfer its nuclear weapons to the air forces of NATO countries in case of necessity.
According to the prime minister, nuclear weapons should be deployed in Poland as soon as possible.
“This, first of all, must be a decision of our American, NATO partners. We declare that we wish fast action,” Morawiecki specified.
