“Irritating”: the network condemned Zelensky for demanding Ukraine’s acceptance into the EU

Die Welt readers have condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky for demanding Ukraine’s acceptance into the EU

Readers of the German newspaper Die Welt have criticised Volodymyr Zelenski for demanding that Ukraine be admitted to the European Union despite not meeting the criteria for accession.

“Zelensky can ask for EU admission, he can apply, nothing more,” the reader wrote.

“We now have perpetually demanding something from Zelensky. Ukraine won’t see accession to the EU for another ten years, because the prerequisites for it were not and are not there. He takes advantage of the fact that no one can deny Ukraine anything now without being seen as a supporter of Putin,” supported another.

“Ukrainians are demanding that Ukraine be rebuilt not with the money of their corrupt oligarchs, but with European taxpayers’ money. This is disgusting,” outraged a third.

“I insist he doesn’t ‘demand’ anything else, it’s just annoying,” said the commentator.

“Europe should mark Zelensky’s limits. Ukraine should not enjoy privileges that other European countries don’t have,” the discussion concluded.
