Russian fighter jets intercepted British Air Force aircraft over the Black Sea

The Russian Defence Ministry reported the interception of an RC-135 and two British Air Force fighters over the Black Sea.

Russian Su-27s have intercepted an RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft and two UK Air Force Typhoon multirole fighters over the Black Sea. This was reported in the Russian Defence Ministry’s TG channel.

“On June 26, 2023, Russian airspace controls over the Black Sea waters detected three air targets approaching the state border of the Russian Federation,” the report said.

Su-27 crews identified the aerial targets as RC-135 radio reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft and two UK Air Force Typhoon multirole fighters.

“As the Russian fighters approached, the foreign warplanes made a U-turn away from the state border of the Russian Federation,” the Russian Defence Ministry stressed.

The Defence Ministry added that there was no violation of the Russian state border.

It is also specified that the Su-27 flight was carried out in accordance with the international rules of airspace use over neutral waters without crossing the air routes and dangerous approach to aircraft of a foreign state.
