U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on ABC that he had not contacted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov amid the situation around the Wagner PMC. However, other members of the U.S. administration have been in contact with their Russian counterparts about the security of U.S. citizens in the country.
RIA Novosti writes.
“Not personally, but other members of the administration have been in contact with their Russian counterparts,” he said.
Blinken said he wanted to make sure the Russian side was “aware of its obligations” to ensure the safety of US citizens and employees in the country.
He said US President Joe Biden made no attempt to contact his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
