Russian Foreign Ministry: Rebellion plays into the hands of Russia’s external enemies

The Russian Foreign Ministry says the armed mutiny by members of the private military company (PMC) Wagner and its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin plays into the hands of the Russian Federation’s external enemies.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that the attempted armed mutiny by the Wagner PMC is fully playing into the hands of all Russia’s enemies. The foreign ministry stressed to the public that the action was strongly opposed by Russian society, which strongly supports Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The adventurist aspirations of the conspirators are essentially aimed at destabilizing the situation in Russia, destroying our unity, and undermining the efforts of the Russian Federation to reliably ensure international security. Thus, the insurgency plays into the hands of Russia’s external enemies,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry warned Western countries against any attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation. The Foreign Ministry said that they were futile and would not find resonance either in Russia or among sensible political forces abroad.

“We warn Western countries against any hints of possible use of the internal Russian situation to achieve their Russophobic goals,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Russian Federation will continue on its sovereign course to ensure its security, protect its values, strengthen its authority in the international arena, and establish a fair multipolar world order, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry noted that “all goals and objectives of the special military operation will be fulfilled”.

“We highly appreciate the understanding of this principled position by our allies and foreign partners, which we are already feeling in full right now,” the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
