Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation on Saturday morning, 24 June, during which they discussed the current situation in Russia, Belta news agency reported, citing the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“The President of Russia called the President of Belarus this morning and had a telephone conversation. Vladimir Putin informed his Belarusian counterpart about the situation in Russia,” the agency reported.
Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin called the performance of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the private military company (PMC) Wagner, an armed insurgency. The President noted that actions to protect the people will be tough, and added that those involved in the preparation of the insurgency “will suffer imminent punishment.” He stressed that “the armed forces and state agencies have received the necessary orders”.
