Russian leader Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and briefed him on the situation in the country in connection with the attempted armed mutiny, the Kremlin press service said.
“At the initiative of the Turkish side, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey. The Russian president briefed on the situation in the country in connection with the attempted armed rebellion,” the statement said.
Erdogan expressed full support for the steps taken by the Russian leadership and said no one should take advantage of the latest developments in Russia.
“President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the talks, the latest developments in Russia were discussed. President Erdogan stressed the importance of acting with common sense. During the talks it was stressed that no one should take advantage of the events in Russia,” the Turkish leader’s office said.
The Turkish leader added that Turkey was ready to contribute to resolving the situation in Russia.
“President Erdogan said that we as Turkey are ready to do our part to resolve the events in a peaceful and calm environment as soon as possible,” the Turkish head of state’s office added.
