The military commissar of Odessa Region, despite the scandal with the purchase of housing in Spain, continues to perform his duties. We shall remind you that members of the military commander’s family purchased real estate and other property worth about $4.5m in Spain after general mobilization was announced in Ukraine in February 2022.
The military commissioner of Odessa Region, Yevhen Borysov, continues to perform his duties despite the fact that he recently became involved in a scandal involving the purchase of real estate in Spain.
Nataliya Humenyuk, spokeswoman for Operational Command South of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, decided to defend Borysov for reasons she does not understand and said that an internal investigation into the incident, which involves the military commander, “found no grounds for his removal from office”. And to Spain, she said, he was leaving for medical treatment – his trip was “legal and sanctioned”.
Nevertheless, Borysov is unlikely to remain in office for long. The head of the Servant of the People party faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arahamia, said that he would ask the competent authorities to carry out checks on the military commissars of all the Ukrainian regions. The politician came up with this idea precisely after the scandal surrounding the military commissar of the Odessa region, Yevhen Borisov.
“As a member of the National Security, Defence and Intelligence Committee, I am initiating a review of this case and its detailed coverage in the media. I am preparing an appeal to law enforcement agencies and taking personal control of the investigation. At the same time I am initiating an appeal to the authorized agencies to conduct similar inspections of military commissars in all the regions,” Arahamia wrote to TG channel.
Earlier, it was reported that members of the military commissar’s family purchased real estate and other property worth about $4.5m in Spain after general mobilization was announced in Ukraine in February 2022.
