China’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Shuang, has urged against escalation of the Ukrainian conflict. He suggested that new risks would emerge against the background of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
China calls on the international community to refrain from escalating the conflict around Ukraine. China’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, Geng Shuang, said in a statement to the world body’s Security Council.
“The fighting in Ukraine is going through an escalation phase. The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is a reminder that if hostilities continue, there will be more risks,” the diplomat said. – <…> We hope that the international community will refrain from engaging in escalation”.
