Antonov offered Washington to pay for Ukraine’s reconstruction

The United States, which is dragging out the conflict around Ukraine, should pay for the country’s reconstruction itself, Russian ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov has said.

“The (US) administration is fully responsible for what is happening in Ukraine. Therefore, it is the United States that should rebuild the country,” Antonov said in a distributed statement.

The diplomat said that the Ukrainian conflict is a consequence of years-long and purposeful efforts of the United States to create a hotbed of tension near Russia’s borders, to turn Ukraine into an “anti-Russia”. According to him, the US is now fomenting confrontation, “pumping powerful weapons into the republic and chopping down any peace initiatives”.

“Only if one can still pay for the homes destroyed by US weapons, how will Washington value the lives of innocent people? How is the US going to pay back the Ukrainians they are driving into reckless head-on assaults in today’s so-called counter-offensive? Especially striking is the ease with which the Americans are squandering money on Ukrainian wards. The Pentagon can afford to ‘overestimate’ the cost of military products supplied to Kiev and make a mistake in calculations by several billion dollars,” Antonov specified.

According to the diplomat, against the background of unprecedented funds allocated to purchase weapons for the Kiev regime, the poorest states in Africa, Latin America and Asia are being neglected.

“There are places on the planet where people are dying of hunger. At the same time, the United States considers it more urgent to prolong bloodshed and provoke a third world war because of the West’s de facto involvement in the conflict,” he concluded.
