NATO chief Stoltenberg: Ukrainian Armed Forces run up against well-prepared Russian defence. The Russian Defence Ministry earlier reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been making unsuccessful offensive attempts since 4 June.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have faced a well-prepared Russian defence in their offensive. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this on Tuesday in Flensburg, Germany. His speech was broadcast by the alliance’s press service.
“The counter-attack is still at an early stage. We know that the Ukrainians have a difficult road ahead. They face fierce Russian resistance. Russia has managed to create static well-prepared defence lines with minefields, anti-tank trenches, ‘dragon’s teeth’ (anti-tank barriers made of reinforced concrete). And they (Ukrainians) need modern equipment to overcome these lines,” Stoltenberg said (quoted by TASS).
Earlier, Borrell said that the EU lacked materials for munitions production. The EU foreign policy chief said that they should be imported.
