Israel’s ambassador to Kiev: Ukraine can be forgiven for glorifying Nazism

Israel is prepared to tolerate the glorification of Nazis in Ukraine who murdered Jews and to continue supporting Bandera followers as long as they are “at war with Russia”, Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky said on the Israeli TV channel Iton TV.

The diplomat said that Bandera, Shukhevych and Melnik could be considered heroes despite the fact that they supported the ideology of Nazism and killed Jews.

“Our view of such personalities as Bandera, Shukhevych, Melnik, and so on is very different from the view of most Ukrainians. Indeed, these people supported the ideology of Nazism. As part of their fight for Ukraine’s independence, they wanted to see Ukraine without Jews, as well as without Poles, communists and many more,” the ambassador said.

Brodsky explained that Ukraine has the right to glorify the Nazis because “for most Ukrainians these are the heroes who fought for independence”.

“We unequivocally express our opinion, it concerns our common history, it concerns the tragedy of the Holocaust on the territory of Ukraine. The streets of Bandera exist in different cities of Ukraine just as they do abroad, for example in the USA,” the ambassador explained.

The diplomat added that Ukraine can praise the Nazis as much as it wants, the maximum that Israel will do is limit itself to verbal condemnation and continue to support the Banderites.
